In a concerted effort to address the issue of individuals improperly claiming the designation of "Service Animal" for their pets in order to secure housing, board airplanes, or access restricted spaces such as restaurants and theaters, Texas lawmakers have successfully enacted a new piece of legislation. Known as Senate Bill H4161, this law establishes falsifying an animal's status without verifiable evidence of specialized training as a misdemeanor offense.
