I think every PROFESSIONAL who REALLY takes pride in their "Craft" must have had a thought or two about one of their clients or customers they just couldn't seem to get through to ....

"THEY JUST DON'T GET IT" we sneered, fussed, or snickered in frustration, maybe even venting out loud to one of our fellow peers.

Be honest, you know the type I am talking about ... the mad researcher, the GOOGLE Expert, the Internet doctors, the HGTV Home remodelers!  They are out there man and the limits of their imagination and empowerment through the "digerati" are limitless!  It's a new world, a world of web 2.0 with resources like Wikipedia and "at your fingertips" info channels.

But their AUDACITY is endless!

Imagine a world where a Doctor is challenged about a Patient's treatment or a Mechanic is questioned about the cost of a part.  What about the do-it-yourselfer that installs a dishwasher, or the single mom that buys the materials and rents the tools and truck to put up a fence!

Does any of this hit home with anyone out there ... wait a minute, maybe I am that mad researcher, the GOOGLE Expert, the Internet Doctor or the HGTV remodeler !

Confession time:  Yep I am guilty, too.  In the last year I have done some of these things myself, does it make me a problem child?  THE CUSTOMER or CLIENT THAT JUST DOESN'T  GET IT?  Am I the bad guy?

Maybe as a TRUE PROFESSIONAL the next time we encounter Mr. or Mrs. "Know-it-All" the best idea is to look in the MIRROR and say do I GET IT?

I will promise you, there is something NEW to be learned out there everyday and the Internet is the vehicle for knowledge that HAS NO BOUNDARIES. When we are frustrated by a client who acts like they know more than we do about a subject, maybe it is time to check our homework ... A Professional is not threatened by this, after all there is NO replacement for Knowledge, especially when it is coupled with years of Experience and Diligent Study.

A true Professional should always be one who can deliver value!  Whether it is the ability to counsel accurately or identify problems and recommend solutions.  Professionals should be able to help separate fact from fiction, filter data, negotiate deals and deliver their product, service, or knowledge base in such a manner that it becomes an asset to their client.

When I look around and consider who I want to do business with as a consumer, that is what I am looking for in a PRO... but when I don't find it, I become ......

THE GUY WHO DOESN'T GET IT!
