Williamson Museum

When we have clients looking at Round Rock homes for sale, we often try to tell them about the best things to see and do nearby. One of the top museums we recommend visiting is the Williamson Museum. Founded in 1997, this museum seeks to preserve the history and culture of Williamson County. Their permanent exhibits are enthralling and educational, but they also have some upcoming special events you may want to attend.

  • First Friday Ghost Tours
On the first Friday of every month between March and November, the Williamson Museum will host a ghost tour. The next tour is scheduled for April 7th, 2023, beginning at 8:00 pm. This 1-hour tour will take you through downtown Georgetown, past some of the most interesting (and haunted) historic sites.

Tickets for the First Friday Ghost Tour are $20 for non-members and $15 for museum members and students. The tour starts at the museum, which is located at 716 S. Austin Ave., Georgetown, TX 78626. Each tour is limited to 20 participants in order to ensure a more personalized experience.

  • The Salon at The Williamson Museum
Round Rock Ballet Folklorico is a local, non-profit group that teaches the art of dance. On April 12th, 2023, the founder and director of the ballet, Yolanda Sanchez, will be presenting at the Williamson Museum. She'll be discussing the origins of the ballet and the good that it does for those in the Round Rock community.

The Salon at The Williamson Museum starts at 6:30 pm and should last about an hour. Admission is free, so bring some friends and prepare to learn.

  • 17th Annual Pioneer Days
Pioneer Days is a tradition for the Williamson Museum. This event celebrates the early pioneers of the United States and, more specifically, those who settled in Texas. Admission is free, and all are welcome. The event will last from 10 am - 3 pm on Saturday, May 6th.

While it is sponsored and hosted by the Williamson Museum, this event will take place at the Old Settlers Association at 3300 E. Palm Valley. Guests can participate in old-fashioned activities, including candle dipping, butter churning, and making corn husk dolls.

  • Midsommar
Midsommar is another annual event hosted by the Williamson Museum at the Old Settlers Association. Scheduled for June 24th between 10 am and 3 pm, this family-friendly event is a chance to gather with friends, meet others in the community, and celebrate the origins of Williamson County. There is no charge for admission, and there will be food for sale on-site.

  • The Salon at Wildfire
The Salon at Wildfire is organized by the Williamson Museum but will take place at Wildfire, located at 812 S. Austin Ave. The event is scheduled for May 10th, 2023, from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm.

The speaker at this event is Dr. Jonathan Seefeldt, who works for the Texas Living Waters Project. He'll discuss current issues surrounding the freshwater sources in and around Texas. Elements of environmental history will come into play.
